William Joseph McCurry

William Joseph McCurry, 79 of Washington died Saturday-November 12, 2016 unexpectedly at the Washington Hospital Emergency Room. He was born November 15, 1936 in Washington the son of the late William Joseph & Anna Zecker McCurry Sr. Mr. McCurry was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, the University of Detroit in Michigan and received his Masters at Pitt. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Mr. McCurry was employed as a Professional Civil Engineer. He was employed at Taylor & Gaskin in Detroit, Michigan as a Bridge Designer. He also was employed by Pullman Swindell in Pittsburgh managing the Bridge Group. Mr. McCurry helped design the Mon Valley Expressway teaching many from start to finish. The many thoughts from his family were he loved to learn, design, build rooms, could fix almost anything and had a “set of plans for everything.” He loved nurturing his grandchildren, most recently he built a wall in his back yard with the help of those he loved. He was a smart, gentle, caring man loved by not only his wife and family but by many, many more. He also fit in time to love his furry friends of the family. He was a member of the ABCD Engineering Society and the Slovak Club.

On October 4, 1958 he married Jeanette A. (Colombo) McCurry who survives. Also surviving are his children; son; William T. “Billy” (Theresa) McCurry, daughters; Karen A. (Gilbert) Arbuckle, Melissa (William) Adams & Sandra (Rich) D’Amore, a sister; Margaret Marra along with nine grandchildren; Amanda (Mike) Kohout, Brittany (Slater) Brown, Crystal McCurry, Joseph McCurry, Ryan (Dara) Arbuckle, David (Allison) Arbuckle, Michael Arbuckle, Matthew D’Amore & Mara D’Amore, along with several nieces & nephews.

Mr. McCurry was preceded in death by a brother; John McCurry.

Friends will be received on Tuesday-November 15, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday-November 16, 2016 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, W.
