Jean Sprowls Stout

Jean Sprowls Stout, 79 died Tuesday-June 30, 2015 at the Washington Hospital. She was born on January 22, 1936 in Claysville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Donald Sprowls of Washington who survives, and the late Una Clemens Sprowls. She graduated from Claysville High School in 1953. Jean married the late T. Philip Stout in 1955 and they lived in California for a time before returning to Pennsylvania where they worked together in the Stout family’s business, Atlas Railroad Construction Company. They had three children; Stephanie (Ted) Otto, Jenice Stout, and Steven (Lynne) Stout. The family lived in Bentleyville for several years before moving to Amwell Township in 1967.

Jean was a wonderful, loving, and always fun Grandy to her six grandchildren; Sydney and Ted Otto, Curran and Mackenzie McDowell, and Philip and Adam Stout.

Two sisters survive; Marlene (Jim) Durig and Phyllis Sprowls, and several nieces and nephews.

Jean was an avid reader, golfer, and traveler throughout her life. She was a member of Nemacolin Country Club, and later, The Golf Club of Washington. She owned and operated the Washington Travel Bureau for several years.

Jean was an active member of the Church of the Covenant, Washington, where she often participated in mission trips and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

Friends will be received on Friday-July 3, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. the hour of a memorial service in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave. Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan FalvoWarco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. The Rev. Dr. Stuart D.
