Randy L. Thomas 39, of Washington, acquired his angel wings and passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his caring wife and family on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Born on August 14, 1981, a loving son of John Baker Thomas, Jr. and Connie J. Thomas, who survive.

Randy, a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, was a 1999 graduate of Washington High School and served in the U.S. Air Force after graduation. Following his service, he worked at Bayer Corporation and Verizon Wireless before accepting a counselor position at Mel Blount Youth Home. When the home closed its doors Randy became a laborer with the City of Washington Street Department and soon promoted to truck driver, a position with tremendous sentimental value, as his great-grandfather, Sell W. Thomas, Sr., was the very first black person to hold that position many, many years ago. Randy was honored to follow in his footsteps.

Although Randy enjoyed his job and meeting new folks in the community, NOTHING in the world meant more to him than his family. He tirelessly traveled daily from city to city, various gyms, training facilities and/or ball parks, ensuring his girls didn’t miss their basketball and softball activities. He took great pride in watching their development as they continued to progress their abilities and excel in their skills. Randy loved “family movie nights”, riding jet skis, hunting and eating food. Randy, a known prankster often brought laughter and joy to all who knew him and would be considered a very wealthy man if you measured wealth by the laughter he generated.

Randy was non-confrontational and would avoid negativity at all costs. He simply loved others and wanted to be loved in return.

Surviving and left to cherish their memories are his wife, Andrea M. Thomas, two daughters: Randi Ashantae Marie Thomas and Karis Nichole Thomas, both of Washington; his siblings: John L. (Idella) Thomas, III of Washington; Rodney L. (Katrina) Thomas of Canonsburg and Tara Dorsey of Orlando, Florida; Nephews: John IV, Jamey, Rodney II and Xxavier Thomas; Nieces: Jacqueline, Phenix and “SISTOR” Azariya Thomas, his favorite uncle Ashton M. (Roxy) Thomas, his best friend Brian Woodson, his favorite work buddies: John Alberta and Big John Martincic and a host of other uncles, aunts, great-nephews and cousins.

Randy was preceded in death by his first wife Ciarra M. Thomas, his paternal and maternal grand and great-grandparents, and his uncle Gary W. Thomas.

The family would like to thank Concordia Hospice of Washington for their superb care and a special thanks to Nurse Judi Grover.

Due to Covid – 19 restrictions a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
