Janetta Victoria Crawford Ledbetter

Janetta Victoria Crawford-Ledbetter affectionately known as “Ms. Nettie”, 59, of Washington formerly of Beaver Falls PA, unexpectedly departed this life to eternal rest in the arms of Jesus, on January 29, 2022.

She was born July 7, 1963; the daughter of the late James W. Crawford Sr. and Reva Caroline Crawford.  Ms. Nettie attended Geneva College and the Community College of Beaver County.  She began working at Tiger Pause and TRIALS Ministries, in Beaver Falls Pa. After moving to Washington Pa, she began working at the Turning Point, was founder of J.E.W.E.L.S Ministry for women and volunteered in multiple ministries and prayer groups. She was a member of 12- step support groups and was active in the recovery community.  Ms. Nettie spent nearly 20 years serving at the Washington City Mission in the women’s program and held many positions.  She was currently serving as the Manager of the Single Women’s program. Ms. Nettie was acknowledged by numerous political and community leaders for her devoted service and received many honors including receiving a Zonta award.  

Ms. Nettie was known for compassion and giving her life away to the service of others while bringing glory to God. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother.  She adored and helped raise her grandchildren. She was kind; had a sweet demeanor, a smile that could light a room and a calm and inviting presence that was deeply felt by everyone. She was a beacon of faith and light to all she encountered.

She is survived by her children, two sons, James (Ramona) Gilbert of Aliquippa, Pa. and Freddie Mike Kimbrew of Washington; two daughters, Marquita (Mark Ford) Kimbrew of Washington and Georgetta Jones-Ledbetter of Washington; three brothers, Keith Edwards, Pasa Robles Ca, Kevin Edwards, State College, Pa and James W. Crawford Jr., Greensboro NC; and two sisters, Terry Price, Pittsburgh Pa and Kimberly Edwards, Ellwood City, Pa.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Ledbetter, and daughter, Lakisha Gilbert and brother, Kenny Edwards and husband, George Ledbetter.

She will be missed by all that knew her.  She would always end conversions and communications with the adopted words of her father, “Walk with the King and be a Blessing.”

Friends will be received from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. the hour of a funeral service on Saturday-February 5, 2022 at Life Church, 100 North Main Street, Washington, PA 15301.  A funeral meal and time of fellowship will be held immediately following at City Mission Dining Hall, 56 West Strawberry Way, Washington PA.
