Billy J. Higgins

Billy J. Higgins, 81 of Washington passed away on Thursday-July 7, 2022.  He was born October 22, 1940 in Coburn, West Virginia the son of the late W.L. and Merle Showalter Higgins.  Mr. Higgins was a 1959 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a 1963 graduate of Fairmont State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.  He was employed as the Executive Director of the Greater Washington Park and Recreation Commission for twenty three years from where he retired.  Mr. Higgins was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

On June 1, 1963 he married Frances J. Reese who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Thom) O’Shell of Washington and Barbara (James) Mruk of Louisville, Kentucky; a son, William (Amy) Higgins of Washington; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Mary Elizabeth, Anastasia, Patrick, Nathan, Luke and Abby and two great grandchildren, Winston and Olivia.

In addition to his father and mother, Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Barr and Joann I. Schamp.

Friends will be received on Sunday-July 10, 2022 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A blessing service will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Monday-July 11, 2022 in the funeral home with the Rev. George Chortos officiating.  Interment will follow in Yost Cemetery, Coburn, West Virginia.  Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to the Friends of the Citizens Library, 55 S.
