Lillian Vecchio Varner

Lillian Vecchio Varner, 85 of Washington died Thursday-May 26, 2016 at 2:32 a.m. at the Washington Hospital after a brief illness.  She was born March 29, 1931 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Nicholas & Edith Vecchio.  Mrs. Varner was formerly employed at Bell Telephone as an operator and at Washington Hospital as a Physical Therapist Aide until her retirement.  She was a graduate of Trinity High School.  Mrs. Varner was an avid golfer belonging to Chippewa, Paul’s Acres, Rolling Green & Ponderosa Ladies Golf Clubs.  She was a veracious reader, loved dogs, swimming, baking, college football and the Steelers. 

On November 8, 1952 she married Thomas Lee Varner who died January 1, 1986.  Surviving are her children; Lisa Varner Latchney (Daniel McHugh) of Victor, New York & Thomas (Melissa) Varner of Washington, a brother; Nicholas (Carol) Vecchio of League City, Texas, four grandchildren; Jessica Leigh Latchney of Rochester, New York, Sarah Elizabeth Latchney of Rochester, New York, Chance Hart (Rayner) Varner of Winchester, Virginia & Spencer Thomas Varner of Washington, three nieces & nephews; Gwen “Micki” (Michael) Neely, Nicholas Joseph Vecchio & Terri (Paul) Ritchie.

Mrs. Varner was preceded in death by a sister; Joan Vecchio Heyburn. 

Friends will be received on Monday-May 30, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Tuesday-May 31, 2016 in the funeral home with the Rev. Erik Hoeke officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O.
