James Angelo Gerolium

James Angelo Gerolium, 72 of Washington, Pennsylvania, died on Thursday-June 23, 2016, peacefully at his home, surrounded lovingly by his family after a brave struggle with cancer. He was born on September 8, 1943 in Washington, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Anthony & Mary Rose Passalacqua Gerolium. James was a doting husband, generous father, attentive grandfather, and solid friend. He was an outstanding professional and businessman, excelling in his work, starting with Washington Penn Plastics, then building the companies General Polymers, Ashland Chemical Company, and The Proper Image. James was committed to hiring underprivileged people who needed to provide for their families, he strongly believed in playing an integral role in paying nourishment forward, and lived to do the right thing. He received countless awards and accolades for his professional accomplishments, and was a noble mentor to so many.

James Angelo Gerolium was a devout member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was a graduate of Washington High School and an accomplished scholar from Michigan State University, Indiana University, Dayton University, Ohio State University, and Washington & Jefferson College. He was a competitive, excellent golfer, and absolutely loved being on the course with his close friends. He also enjoyed hunting, racquetball and skiing. James was an outstanding citizen and philanthropist, who actively contributed to the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Washington Area Humane Society, Elks Club, Washington County and Mon Valley Chambers of Commerce. James donated his blood and platelets regularly, dedicated to help those in need.

On June 26, 1965, he married the love of his life, Frankie Jo (Pacilla) Gerolium, who survives. James leaves behind his three loving daughters; Suzette Rachelle Gerolium of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Nell Ann Gerolium of Washington, Pennsylvania, and J.B. Gerolium (Dirk Flanigan,) of Chicago, Illinois. His five adoring grandchildren; Isabella Walker, Allegra Walker, Gianna Walker, Sophia Gerolium and Luciana Domenica Pacilli, will miss him dearly. His niece and nephew, whom he loved as his own; Frankie Jo (Pacilla) Kunselman and Louis John Pacilla, will forever hold him in their hearts. Also surviving is his highly revered sister-in-law; Sharon Miller, and a brother; Charles (Toni) Gerolium of Florida. James was “P-Pap” to all sweet children, including step-granddaughter; Devlin Flanigan, his infinite, precious nieces and nephews, and every granddaughter’s friend, especially honorary granddaughter; Toni Marie Zenner.

James Angelo Gerolium was preceded in death by his most treasured parents-in-law; Dominic Alfred and Agnes Rachel (Rusicki) Pacilla, a sister; Jacquelyn (Gerolium) Zanolli & a cherished brother-in-law; Louis “Gi Gi” Pacilla.

Friends will be received on Sunday-June 26, 2016 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday-June 27, 2016 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington, Pennsylvania. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
