Joseph Richard “Joey” Szopo, 27 died Friday-October 14, 2016 in Gulf Breeze Hospital, Gulf Breeze, Santa Rosa County after a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis for the last 27 years. He was born June 17, 1989 in Gulfport, Mississippi the son of Joseph William & Vicki Jo Mohr Szopo of St. Paris, Ohio. He was a graduate of Graham High School in St. Paris, Ohio. Mr. Szopo enjoyed gaming, was an avid sports fan of the Penguins & Steelers and enjoyed hockey & baseball as a child. He was known by his family & friends as, “The kid with the biggest heart.”
Surviving in addition to his mother and father is a sister; Samantha Lynne (Ryan Rittenhouse) Szopo of St. Paris, Ohio, maternal grandmother; Patty Mohr of Hilliard, Ohio, maternal grandfather; Richard Mohr of Washington. Several aunts, uncles & cousins also survive.
Mr. Szopo was preceded in death by paternal grandparents; Joseph & Mary Szopo, paternal grandmother; Lillian Reihner, paternal step grandfather; Jack Reihner and maternal step grandmother; Margaret Mohr.
Friends will be received on Saturday-October 22, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
