Steve J. Suhay

Steve J. Suhay, 94 of Washington passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Friday-January 15, 2016.  He was born October 28, 1921 in Wellsburg, West Virginia the son of Steve and Mary Andrachak Suhay.  Mr. Suhay attended Avella High School beforeen listing in the United States Army.  He served in the Army from 1943 until 1945 during WWII in the European Theater attaining the rank of Sergeant.  Mr. Suhay was a gun commander on a tank destroyer that was involved in several major engagements.  Following his honorable discharge he was employed at Albert’s Packing, Selvaggi Brothers Bakery and Pete’s Surplus.  He was a member of the Christian Church of North America in Washington.

Mr. Suhay is survived by one brother; John (Mary) Suhay of Pueblo, Colorado and by one sister; Frances Monchak of Pueblo, Colorado.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or service.  Private burial will be held in Queen of Heaven Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Army.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc, Wilson at East Katherine Ave. Washington, S.
