Spent Most of His Life Farming

Richard “Dick” Clark Foster, 83 of Washington died unexpectedly at 4:25 P.M. in Allegheny General Hospital on Monday-August 8, 2016.  He was born August 12, 1932 in Washington, a son of the late Marie Martin Foster and James Albert Foster of Washington.  Mr. Foster was a 1950 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1954 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Upon graduation from college, he served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956.

On January 18, 1957 he married Ermalee Fast Foster, who survives.

Mr. Foster began his working career at Atlantic Refining Company in Johnstown, Pa. He later worked at RCA in Washington as a line supervisor. He then worked as an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company from where he retired after 20 years of service. Much of his life was spent farming. He owned and operated the family farm for over 55 years in Buffalo Township.

Besides spending most of his time farming, Mr. Foster was a former member of the Trinity Area School Board, previously served as a representative of the Milk Marketing Board, was a member of the Washington County Cattleman’s Association, a member of Sunset Lodge # 623 F. & A.M., a member of Coudersport A.A.S.R., and a past deacon at The Church of the Covenant. He also enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports teams and the stock market.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter; Renee (David) Dickson, a son; Richard “Rick” C. Foster II, three grandchildren; Bryan (Amanda) Dickson, Rachelle (Stephen) Reihner and Chelsey Foster, three great grandchildren; Kolt and Kasen Reihner and Parker Dickson, two brothers; Eugene M. Foster and James “Jay” (Karen) Foster. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Deceased in addition to his mother and father is a sister; Barbara Ann Foster.

Friends will be received on Thursday-August 11, 2016 from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave. Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday-August 12, 2016 in the funeral home. Interment will follow in North Buffalo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County 4-H Development Fund, 700 W.
