Robert Michael Polander Jr.

Robert Michael Polander Jr., 66 of Washington passed away on Thursday-October 7, 2021 in the Washington Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born November 11, 1954 in Waynesburg, PA the son of the late Robert Michael and Martha Louise Lutes Polander.  Mr. Polander grew up in Jefferson, PA and graduated from Carmichaels Area High School in 1973.  He went on to graduate from Penn State University in 1977 and from Waynesburg College in 1981.  Mr. Polander was first employed at Bethlehem Steel as a Coal Mining Engineer.  He then went to work as a Mining Consultant at J.T. Boyd and later became a self-employed Gas and Oil Consultant operating Polander and Associates LLC.  Mr. Polander was a member of the St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, St. James Parish where he served as an usher and altar server.  He was a volunteer operator at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum and was a member of the Washington Flyers Club.

Mr. Polander’s Masonic affiliation was very important to him.  He was a member of Chartiers Lodge No. 297, Washington Chapter No. 150, Washington Council No. 1, Jacques DeMolay Commandery No. 3, Valley of Pittsburgh, Washington-Greene Scottish Rite Club, Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, Washington-Greene County Caravan No. 2, Golden Triangle York Rite College No. 32 and Joshua Association of SWPA.  He was also a proud member of the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Pittsburgh. 

Mr. Polander enjoyed flying his Piper Airplane, building and flying model airplanes, working on and repairing computers, hunting, fishing and gardening.  He loved God, his family and his pets, Pooky, Snuggles and Tinker.

On September 10, 1988 he married Renee Y. Pohovich Polander who survives.  Also surviving are two brothers, Daniel Polander of Rixeyville, Virginia and Jeffrey Polander of Jefferson, PA.  Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Polander was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Polander.

Friends will be received on Monday-October 11, 2021 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  Chartiers Lodge No. 297 will render a Masonic Service at 6:00 P.M. on Monday evening in the funeral home.  The family kindly asks that those attending the visitation please wear a facial covering.  A prayer service will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday-October 12, 2021 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, St. James Parish, 320 Henderson Ave. Washington with the Rev.
