Edward M. Mazur
/Edward M. Mazur died at his home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the age of 82. The only son of Martin E. Mazur and Theresa C. (Piacenza) Mazur, he was born on May 12, 1943. A graduate of Trinity High School with a Bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University, Mr. Mazur devoted his life to service. From his days as a P.F.F.A. officer, to his service in the Army Corps. Of Engineers (Co. C. 429 Eng. Bn. Combat Heavy) to his time in township government as an auditor, a member of the planning commission, work with the board of the parks and recreation, as a township supervisor and an auxiliary member of the South Strabane Township (formerly) volunteer fire department, his steady, full volume voice left its impression with everyone he encountered. Mr. Mazur’s true passions were agriculture and his family. He spent the majority of his adult life caring for his wife, (deceased, Patricia Jane (Williams) Mazur); 2 daughters, Stacy C. Mazur and Jennifer A. Mazur (surviving) and his farm. Ever to be found on his tractor in one of his fields or in his barn, his soft-spoken moments were reserved for his animals and family or if he was determined to convey his specific point.
His legacy will live on, not only on plaques in brick and mortar buildings he encouraged to have constructed in South Strabane Twp., but in the memories made and knowledge conveyed to those who could look past the gruff, full volume voice to the passionate heart and mind of a man that simply loved his home, his country, his community and his family.
