Mark A. Liggett

Mark A. Liggett, 76, of Canonsburg, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025.  He was born on December 31, 1948, in Canonsburg, PA, a son of the late John P. Liggett and Annabelle Arnold Liggett.  His father, an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, returned to Canonsburg after serving for his country, and dedicated the rest of his life to working hard to support his family.  Annabelle was a passionate homemaker and seamstress who avidly dressed her family in style.

Mark spent most of his childhood on the “Liggett farm”, where he developed a deep connection with plants, animals, and nature.  After graduating from Canon Mac High School, he became an incredible Sailor of the U.S Navy.  As a Vietnam Veteran, Mark was a Sailor of the USS Hanson (DD/DDR-832) of the U.S Navy Seventh Fleet.  He was instrumental in providing his Admirals with speedy radar calculations; which earned him two bronze stars for his heroism under pressure in combat.  After concluding his service in Vietnam, Mark returned to Canonsburg and spent over 30 loyal years as a steelworker at The Jessop.  Upon retiring, he devoted his time to reconnecting with his children, grandchildren, and best friends.  Mark was a lifetime member and commander for Strabane Memorial, VFW Post 553 in Strabane, PA. He enjoyed traveling “up North”, listening to his favorite rock & roll, swimming, reading, watching Westerns, spending time with his cats, sharing his love of nature, and, most importantly: Peace.  He will be cherished in memory by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving is his eldest son, Jerrod Liggett (Angela) of Dilliner, PA; a son, Cain Liggett of Canonsburg, PA; a daughter, Alana Rae Liggett of Chicago, IL; and four grandchildren, Jasmyn Martin of Gerards Fort, PA, Leona Liggett of Dilliner, PA, Stone Liggett of Dilliner, PA, and Layla Liggett of Canonsburg. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, Jack Liggett, and Kathy Liggett.

Friends and family will be received at a Celebration of Life for Mark in August.  Funeral services will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to Strabane Memorial VFW Post 553 in Strabane, PA in person at: 109 View Ave Strabane, PA 15363; or by mail: PO Box 113, Strabane 15363.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
