Joseph P. Scandale Jr.

Joseph P. Scandale Jr., 100, of Taylorstown, died Sunday, August 10, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born January 7, 1925, in Waynesburg, PA a son of the late Joseph and Lucia Torchia Scandale. Joseph was a graduate of Waynesburg High School. He joined the Navy in 1943, and served in World War II until being honorably discharged.
At a young age, Joseph worked alongside his dad and brother at Scandale Construction Co. Joseph went on to sell cars for Guy Woodward and was co-owner of the Anchor Club in Washington. He then went on to open and operate Scandale’s Holiday Gulf Station. Joseph then became co-owner of BJ’s Brushless Carwash until his retirement.
He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, making wine, and was an avid golfer. Joseph was the previous exulted ruler of the Elks Lodge # 776 and was a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175, Arms Club, VFW, and the Moose Club in Washington.
Surviving are two children, Michele Carl (Robert) and Michael Scandale of Washington; one stepchild, Jeffrey Anderson; grandchildren, Chad Carl (Melina), Chelsey Carl (Andy Crawford), Sydney Scandale, Diana Denman, and Brandon Thomas (Nicole); 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents, are a sister, Philomena “Chic” Scandale Onopiuk; a brother, Anthony P. Scandale “Tony”; a sister, Filomena “Minnie” Scandale; a daughter, Sharon (mother was Irene, Deceased), and stepdaughter, Melissa Anderson. Joseph was also preceded in death by Dolores Scandale (mother of Michele and Michael) and Idabelle Scandale (mother of Jeffrey and Melissa). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. The B.P.O.E. Lodge # 776 of Washington will render a memorial service at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday in the funeral home. A Blessing Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery, Garden Mausoleum. Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Navy.
