William L. Anderson
/William L. Anderson, 102 of Washington, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026 in his home. He was born December 31, 1923 in Washington, PA a son of the late John A. and Buena Anderson. Mr. Anderson served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class during WWII from 1943 until 1946 before being honorably discharged. He received the WWII Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. After the war, he returned home and graduated from Trinity High School.
Mr. Anderson worked as a steel worker at Washington Steel for over twenty years from where he retired. He was Methodist by faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Washington. Mr. Anderson was a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175, the Moose Lodge # 22 and the B.P.O.E. Lodge # 776 all of Washington. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry and cutting and splitting wood. Mr. Anderson will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His wife, Helen Patricia Anderson passed away on July 6, 2011. Surviving is a son, William L. (Cindy) Anderson Jr. of Eighty Four PA; a stepdaughter, Betty Lou Hatfield of Washington PA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by five sisters.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, April 24, 2026 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Navy.
