Milton J. Schuler Jr. of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. Milt was born on March 14, 1955 in Bethlehem, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Ida Schuler. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; brother, Timothy; daughters, Stephanie (John) and Natalie (Frank); and three grandchildren, Mason, Seraphina, and Samuel.

Milt graduated from Liberty High School in 1973 as a highly accomplished athlete. Milt was a football legend at Liberty. His rare skill set allowed him to play both offensive and defensive line. In wrestling, he was 1st in District, 1st in Regional, and 4th in State at the Heavyweight Division. Milt, along with his 1971 wrestling team, was inducted into the Liberty High School Hall of Fame in 2019. He was the recipient of the highly coveted Arthur Black Award in 1973 for his leadership, service, and positive impact on the community.

Milt was recruited by Coach Harry Jones to play football on a scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh for Coach Johnny Majors. Milt received permission from Coach Majors to not only play on the football team, but also to wrestle for the University. During Milt’s time at Pitt, their talented football team went to the Fiesta Bowl and Sun Bowl. Then in 1976, the team went undefeated winning the National Championship at the Sugar Bowl. Milt was looking forward to joining his teammates in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Championship in October.

Milt became a steel broker, but did not leave his love for sports behind. In his spare time, he coached youth wrestling for Joe Walker in the late 70’s and other various youth sport programs in the 90’s. During Milt’s lifelong career in the steel industry, he made many friends out of his business acquaintances. Everyone who knew him loved him.

While Milt enjoyed his career and athletic pursuits, the greatest joy of his life came from his family. Milt met the love of his life, Cindy, while at Pitt. They were married in 1977, and the two have been inseparable ever since. He loved traveling with her and their two daughters, and later his two sons-in-law and three grandchildren. Universally loved, Milt was known for his kindness, compassion, and loyalty to all in his path. Milt began his battle with cancer in 2013 and fought most courageously over the last four years.

A memorial funeral service will be held at Heinz Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 12, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to either the Kidney Cancer Research Program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center or the Student-Athlete Success Fund at Pitt.
