Carol Ann Claffey Mounts
/Carol Ann Claffey Mounts, 88 of Washington died Monday-June 5, 2017 surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born February 21, 1929 in Washington, the eldest child of Joseph “Bus” & Doris Perry Claffey.
Her cherished husband of 66 years is Glenn W. Mounts. She is the proud mother of 4 children; Jonathan F. (Patti) Mounts of Washington, Sally A. Mounts of Washington, Joseph R. (Becky) Mounts of Port St. John, Florida and Rebecca A. Mounts (Mark) Blaskey of Arlington, Virginia, a sister in law; Laura Claffey of Houston, Texas. Ten grandchildren & ten great-grandchildren insure her legacy. She was proud of her Irish heritage. All her life, she lived on National Road.
Mrs. Mounts was preceded in death by her younger brother; Edwin Arthur Claffey.
She was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School and a 1950 graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from West Liberty University as a grandmother. She was a registered nurse and worked for over 40 years at the Washington Hospital.
She was a lifelong member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, where she made many contributions over the decades of her life as a parishioner and Sunday School teacher; as the developer of the church website; and as a seamstress.
Her devotion to her husband and family, however, was her greatest fulfillment, for what they loved, she loved.
Services are private at the request of her family. Arrangements are under the direction ofthe Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Claysville United Presbyterian Church.
