Charles Allison McAnallen

Charles Allison McAnallen, of Washington, passed away on April 30, 2025 in the Washington Hospital.  Many family members were with him to bid a loving farewell.

Born on March 6, 1948, Charles “Chuck” was the eldest child of the late George Washington McAnallen and Jean Lawton McAnallen.

Chuck graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1966, and from the University of Notre Dame in 1970 with an accounting degree.

He owned CAM Financial Services and was a member of the National Guard.

Chuck grew up in a large and loving family, where the value of hard work was instilled in him and his siblings by working on the family farm and construction company.

Love of family continued through the years and was evidenced by the many holiday and party gatherings he and his wife hosted.  Their house was traditionally where family came for Halloween Trick or Treating and Christmas Eve, but no holiday was more cherished than Thanksgiving – starting in 1985 with the large but manageable crowd of 32 people which continues to this day with numbers in the 70’s.

Chuck also loved boating on Cheat Lake, and many happy stories of weekends spent tubing with his daughters are still told.

He also had a passion for stamp, coin, and train collecting.

When grandchildren came into his life, the fun continued.  For their pleasure, and perhaps a bit his, he built dirt bike jumps, train platforms, watched these little people ride battery operated Barbie cars all over the yard, helped build Pinewood Derby cars for Scouts, filled the pool with giant inflatable toys and turned the family lawn tractor into a Thomas the Train ride.

The happy times will be forever reminisced and forever missed.

Chuck married Suzanne Fulton in 1969 and was the proud father of Laura McAnallen, Jennifer Beichner and Katherine Pickup, and was also the proud grandfather of, Austin Young, Abigale “Abi” Young, Ella Young, Isabel “Izzy”  Beichner, Gianna “Gia” Beichner, Felix Pickup, Ziggy Pickup, Otto Pickup and Gwendolyn “Winnie” Pickup.

Chuck is also survived by his wife, Suzanne and sisters, Patricia “Patty” (the late Danny) O’Leary, Mary Sue “Sam” Bracey and Laura “Laurie” (John) Abel; brother, Daniel “Dan” (Bonnie) McAnallen; brother in law, Tim Curran and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Curran.
