Rita Jardine
/Rita Jardine, 88 of Washington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She was born October 26, 1936 in West Homestead, PA a daughter of the late John and Antonine Lizik Olesnevich. Rita was a graduate of Homestead High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was employed for several years as a teacher at McGuffey High School from where she retired. Rita was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish and was a member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of the church. She was an active volunteer at the annual fish fry where she could be found working the baked goods table. Rita was also at one time a member of the church knitting club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sudoku puzzles, traveling and playing bridge. Most of all, Rita enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
On August 8, 1959 she married Guy H. Jardine who passed away on June 12, 2010. Surviving is a son, Matthew (Stephanie) Jardine; a daughter, Juliana (James) Johnson; a brother, Ted Olesnevich; three grandchildren, Madeline (Zac) Boeckmann, Ryan Jardine and Rachael Drinkwine and two great grandchildren, Beau and Kit Boeckmann. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Connor Jardine and by a sister, Lucia.
Friends will be received on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. The Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of St. James Parish will recite the Rosary at 3:30 P.M. on Monday in the funeral home. A Departing Prayers of Transfer Service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington with the Rev. Michael Peck as celebrant. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to John F. Kennedy Catholic School, 111 W.
