Mary Ann Young Ames
/Mary Ann Young Ames, 90, of Washington PA passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Hawthorne Woods, Washington. For the last few years Mary Ann was cared for by loving family members until her passing. She was born January 26, 1935 in Washington PA a daughter of the late William O. and Myrtle Thomas Young. On February 9, 1952, she married Paul Edison Ames. They were married for 66 years before his passing. Mary Ann was a loving mother to one son, Paul Lee Ames that has also preceded her in death. She attended Trinity High School and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glyde, Scenery Hill, PA.
Mary Ann was very active in helping her husband with his home building business, Paul E. Ames Builder as well as being a homemaker. She was a pleasant, genuinely friendly person and she truly enjoyed talking to people and hearing about their lives. She loved to visit with her family and friends at their homes, and was fond of celebrating weddings, birthdays, holidays and graduations with everyone. Mary Ann could make the best angel-food cake with the most delicious icing that her family and friends loved. She took pleasure in canning what her husband and son grew in their garden, eating out at her favorite restaurants and watching animals in the wild especially birds that came to her feeder. Traveling with her husband and son in their motor home was something she most enjoyed. A few of their favorite destinations were trips out west, down south to Myrtle Beach and their yearly trip to Jamboree in the Hills. Left to cherish her memory are many close relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. the hour of a funeral service in the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 Church Rd.
