Dolores H. Hart

Dolores “Dee” H. Hart, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, of Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Dee was born on July 26, 1930, in Rices Landing, Pennsylvania, daughter to Charles and Helen Hallaway.  She was the beloved mother to three children, Jennings (Shandah) Hart Jr., Deborah (John) Elmore, and Charles (Susie) Hart.  Dee was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren, James and Patrick Sisul, Jennings (Lauren) Hart III, Elizabeth (Daniel) Sagan, Jeffrey Hart, Zachary and Emily Hart and proud great-grandmother to eight great grandchildren, Olivia, Drew, Henry, Abigail, Valor, Judah, Asa, and Chelseanna.  Dee is also survived by her nephew, Thomas Doman.  Dee was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, C.R. Hallaway Jr., as well as many aunts and uncles, whom she adored.

Dee enjoyed a long professional career, serving as Office Manager of Composite Steel Inc., where she was a trusted personal assistant to the family of Tecumseh Sherman Fitch.  She retired at the age of 70 and later began a second career close to her heart, working alongside her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, at their business, Hearts in the Attic.  Dee was a faithful employee and friendly face at the shoppe, which brought her immense joy and purpose until her final retirement, at the age of 95.

Dee was a woman passionately committed to service, both within her own family and in her community.  For several decades, Dee served on the board of directors at the Women’s Shelter, known as the Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA.  Dee was a charter member of the Zonta Club, an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a longtime member of the National Secretaries organization.

A woman of enduring faith, Dee was a founding member of Trinity Bible Fellowship for over 30 years.

Dee lived an active and engaged social life. She loved to travel with her family and friends, especially to the beach, where she could be found deep in the pages of a good book. An avid reader, she enjoyed her book exchanges and the loyal friendships built around a mutual love of reading. She cherished her friends and the decades they spent together in water aerobics, followed by their weekly lunch club, where they shared joys, sorrows, and lots of proud family pictures.

Dee will be remembered for her warm, determined spirit, her unwavering love and commitment to family and friends, and her bright eyes and smile. She leaves a legacy of faith, family, service, and friendship and she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 1 - 3 and 5 - 7 P.M. in the Trinity Bible Fellowship, 1350 Park Ave., Washington PA 15301.  A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday in the church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Roach officiating.  Burial will be private in Hewitt Cemetery, Rices Landing.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
