Michael A. Towers, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, with his loving wife of 55 years, Shevaun, by his side. Michael spent over 43 years as a respected leader in the hospitality industry. Born October 28, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Queens, and working his way through college in food and beverage, he rose quickly from restaurant manager to General Manager. In 1976, he was recruited by Helmsley-Spear, Inc., managing major Sheraton hotels across urban, suburban, and airport markets, earning personal recognition from Harry Helmsley.

After stops in Georgia, Delaware, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA, Michael relocated his family to Washington, PA, becoming Vice President and head of the hospitality division for a major South Hills development firm, where he developed seven new hotels and expanded the division to 11 properties. He then founded Towers-Hall, LLC, spending decades conducting market studies from Anchorage to Naples, leading multi-million-dollar strategic plans, testifying as an expert witness, and serving as Chairman of the Board for both the Pennsylvania Travel Council and the Pennsylvania Logo Signing Trust. Away from work, he was also a longtime and devoted member of Immaculate Conception Parish.

Yet for all his professional accolades, Michael’s greatest passion was his family. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Big Man” — a title that fit his larger-than-life presence and welcoming personality. He made everyone feel secure and happy, even though in his house, there was right, wrong, and then there was Big Man’s way.

Inheriting a sharp eye from his mother, Michael never missed a “schnitzel” on the rug and was famous for declaring, “All this makes me nervous!” whenever anything was a little chaotic. He kept his grandchildren happily deployed on yard duty, handing out bags to collect paper and pine cones. While watching football, he firmly believed that “every coach is a nitwit.” No matter what was happening in his career, being with his grandchildren was the absolute highlight of his life.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Shevaun, and his children and grandchildren, who were the stars in his sky: Michael Jr. (Michelle) and sons, Gregg (Amanda) and Connor; Danielle Crumrine (Will) and children, Willie Jr., Maddie, and Seon; James (Danielle) and children, Jimmy Jr. (Annie), Kate, and Max; Paul III “Gus” (Sue) and children, Auggie, Lucie, Danny, Paul, Jack, George, and Simon; and Siobhan Visser (Dave) and children, Julia and Larry. He is also survived by his brother, Vincent; his sister, Mary Murphy (Tom); and many nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends and former colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Paul and Gladys Towers; his brothers, Joseph and Paul Towers Jr.; his sister, Madeleine Petrigala; his extended family, James Hall Jr. and Jean McMillen; and his grandson, Eoin Towers.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A Departing Prayers of Transfer Service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington with the Rev. Alec Scheuer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, PA.
